WHAT IS ZONE?

Our club is part of Zone 2/7 which is made up of five other RSL clubs.

These are Maroubra, Marrickville, Padstow, North Ryde and Botany.

Zone 2/7 Carnivals –  NSW Health –  IMPORTANT CHANGES TO COMMUNITY SPORT –

From Saturday 26 September, interregional community sporting competitions may recommence without restricting these activities to regions or zones, where there is a COVID-19 Safety Plan for the school or community sport activity in place. More than one parent may now attend community sporting activities if physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres can be maintained between people that are not from the same household. Ensure strict compliance with all other elements of the COVID-19 Safety Plan. Non-essential adults should continue to be excluded from sporting activities held during the normal school day.

School and community sports organisations and participants should continue to avoid shared travel arrangements such as car pooling, and to minimise gatherings before and after the event.

As at September 26th, the following dates are planned for RSL Youth Swim Club Zone 2/7 Carnivals for 2020-2021 Swimming Season.

esday August, 19th and are anticipated to be in place for the next 6 weeks.

As you can appreciate we are unable to determine how the additional public health measures will effect our Zone swimming carnivals.

At each carnival meet has 25m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly events. Swimmers must swim in at least two of these carnivals to be eligible for selection for the Championships in January.

It is from this carnival that the selections are made for the State R.S.L. Carnival held in March.

Our club has always been well represented at the Zone Carnivals as well as succeeding in Championship and then State selections.

Carnivals are a fantastic experience for the children and their only opportunity to represent Penshurst RSL Swimming Club. These carnivals help to build club spirit and as the races in the first three carnivals are handicapped, provide a chance for most members to compete whatever their ability.
